Hello!

My name is Jonathan Keyes, and I am a current junior at Washington State University Global Campus. I am in my second semester at the university, where I am majoring in Integrated Strategic Communication.

Born and raised in the Seattle, Washington area, I have always had an interest in all things media. From watching the local 11pm news, to indulging in reality television, to keeping up with social media, I have felt the need throughout my life to be in the know about trends in popular culture and current events. This need to absorb all of this information has certainly translated to my professional career interests.

As a student studying communication, it is important for me to strive for a career that involves constructing meaningful messages that are able to be absorbed by an audience. One of the ways in which that mindset can be applied is through a career in television. In working for a television company, it is the responsibility of the production team to create content that is clearly communicated to an audience. That is certainly a major responsibility, and I feel it is one that I am able to take on. It would be a dream of mine to work in some form of broadcast, whether that be for a production company or television program.

Another one of my strong interests is in performance. I have been acting on stage since a young age, and that passion has stayed with me today. It is such a unique opportunity to be able to transform into another character and entertain an audience, whether it be through humor, sadness, or suspense. I have done a few commercials and short films, along with performing with various theater companies throughout the Seattle area.

Lastly, with this blog, I will showcase a selection of my various works throughout the semester in the COM 210 course. This is an exciting way to showcase some of the hard work that I will be putting into different projects.
